There’s a lot of noise in our world…

And I’m not even going to touch on the mainstream media.

There are so many opinions and so many people who were mobilizing for the change that we need in this country but they got complacent after the 2020 election.

But that’s why we need to cut through the noise to wake people up to a very important fact that lies at the heart of so many issues:

US imperialism hasn’t skipped a beat from Trump to Biden.

Look at what’s happening right under our noses:

  • Biden’s budget proposal increases the military budget, including money for new ICBMs that accelerate the new nuclear arms race.
  • Biden calls out the human rights violations of China and Russia, but it rings hollow because he ignores the human rights violations of U.S. allies (and of the U.S itself at home — see Mumia Abu-Jamal, Leonard Peltier, Julian Assange, and the daily carnage by killer cops).
  • In Biden’s first 100 days, over 300,000 people have been deported. (He’s on pace to exceed both Trump and Obama in his first term.)
  • In the Middle East, he is “recalibrating” relations with Saudi Arabia's murderer-in-chief, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salmon, while he continues to sell arms to the United Arab Emirates for the destruction Yemen
  • He unconditionally backs Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories. He looks the other way as Turkey wages war on leftist Kurds in Syria, Iraq, and Turkey itself.

Yet how many people are content to say “well at least we got rid of Trump”?

The truth is that getting rid of Trump didn’t get rid of the bigger problem.

We’re still seeing the effects of U.S. imperialism. When Biden proclaims "America is back," he means the imperialist machine is getting back in gear.

If anything, it’s speeding up.

Case in point:

  • In Africa, Africom special forces fight for corrupt dictatorships across the continent against popular insurgencies, increasing the militarization of these conflicts that the U.S. treats as Islamic terrorism rather than as the resistance to public neglect and kleptocracy that they really are.
  • In Latin America, the blowback from U.S. imperialism is found at the U.S southern border, where tens of thousands refugees and asylum seekers are still denied entry or deported back to face death in countries like Honduras, the narco-state created by the U.S.-backed coup in 2009 when Biden was Vice President. Biden wants to impose Juan Guaido as Venezuela’s U.S.-picked president. He backs the dictator president of Haiti who won’t leave office after his term expired.
  • Globally, Biden continues the brutal sanctions on the people of Cuba, Iran, Syria, and Venezuela. He ignores demands for debt relief from the capitalist rentiers who extract wealth from the inpoverished Global South. He ignores demands to end the off-shore tax havens where the super-rich shelter their ill-gotten gains. He plays military games of chicken with China and Russia instead of engaging them diplomatically to address global warming and new nuclear arms race.

So… what do we do in the face of all of this?

The truth is that it starts with you.

Because we need to mobilize before it’s too late.

We aren’t settling for Biden and we certainly aren’t turning a blind eye to the continued imperialism.

We’re fighting for peace policies and need your help.

When we all pitch in, we can:

  • Cut the U.S. military budget 75% and redirect that money and brainpower to an Ecosocialist Green New Deal for climate safety and economic security.
  • Pledge no first use of nuclear weapons.
  • Scale back our nukes to a minimum credible deterrent, and, on the basis of these peace initiatives, engage all the nuclear powers in negotiations for complete and mutual disarmament under the terms of the new Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

Because it’s past time that we make these changes.

The U.S can use its wealth to be a humanitiarian super-power instead of a global military empire. Instead arms, we can send aid in a Global Green New Deal.

We can make friends, instead of enemies.

We can build peace instead of permanent war.

This is a world worth fighting for.

And we can only do it with your help.

It is going to take all of us to realize an EcoSocialist Green New Deal. Can we count on you to donate today?

Our fundraising comes from grassroots donations. Your donation matters and empowers us to continue to fight and save our world.

The time for talk has come and gone. Now is the time for taking action!

Thank you for standing with us!

Call Cuomo to get off fracked gas

New York’s energy regulators recently released the long-awaited “Gas Planning White Paper,” revealing their plan for our state’s fracked gas utilities. Unfortunately, their plan, while making some improvements to business as usual, does not demonstrate a path for phasing out gas. Regulators brazenly ignored 190 elected officials and 130 organizations that called for a “managed, equitable, affordable transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.” Now we need to tell them to go back to the drawing board and come up with a real plan.

Cuomo is directly in charge of this. Call Cuomo today at 877-235-6537 and tell him we are in a real climate crisis. Go back to the drawing board and make a REAL plan to get off fracked gas!

Also, if you want to really pack a punch, let’s show them how much people-power we have and flood their system with comments. Our goal is 5,000 by June 4, 2021. Can you join the movement to push back on this no-plan plan that keeps business as usual for the fossil fuel industry?

Raise your voice today and send your comment to send them back

to the drawing board. We say NO more fracked gas!

Run for office as a Green

2021 Election timelines:

Do you want to run for local office?

Are you sick and tired of your elected officials running unopposed, not listening to you about what your community needs or how your taxes are spent? Do you want to represent your community in decisions that impact people's everyday lives?

Then take the first step by contacting us about running for office independently of the Democratic/Working Families Party and the Republican/Conservative Party at candidates@gpny.org and your local Green Party.

NO ON HR-1

Go to our Action Page and Tell Congress: Stop HR1, the "Voting Rights Bill" That Restricts Voter Choice!

And make sure you tell your family and communities how HR1 will:

  • Eliminate the limits on donations and expenditures candidates can receive and make — what kind of campaign finance reform is that?

  • Inflate the amount of money national party committees can give to candidates from $5000 to $100 million, an astonishing increase of 1999900% that would give party bosses virtually unlimited power to flood elections with big money

  • Abolish the general election campaign block grants that parties can access by winning at least 5% of the vote in the previous presidential election. HR1 will eliminate this provision that was created to give a fair shot to alternative parties that demonstrate significant public support

  • Replace the general election block grants (where each qualified candidate receives a set, lump sum of public funding for campaign expenses) with matching funds through Election Day — a huge step backwards for public campaign finance reform — using the above-mentioned criteria designed to squeeze out alternative parties and independent candidates

Opposing the Transfer of Indian Point to Holtec

On February 23, the NYS Public Service Commission (PSC) is holding a public hearing on the Indian Point license transfer from Entergy to Comprehensive Decommissioning International, LLC (CDI) -- a joint venture of Holtec International and SNC-Lavalin, the company that has proposed to decommission the plant when it

closes in April of this year.  Because of their long history of safety violations, financial misdealings, bribery, corruption and other malfeasance, we believe that Holtec should be disqualified from holding the license, which would give the company control of the $2.1 billion Decommissioning Trust Fund, and that the PSC should use their jurisdiction to deny this license transfer based on the serious concerns outlined below.

Because the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) ignored the call from NY’s Congressional members and local and state elected officials to hold a public hearing on Holtec’s License Transfer Application, this is the only opportunity for public comment on it.  Please take this opportunity to submit a comment urging the PSC to reject the license transfer in the best interests of New York State.

You have several options to comment:

  • Offer verbal comment at one of two PSC virtual Public Hearings: To do so, you must sign up on www.webex.com by 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22.

Stop The Plant

There are no ifs and or buts regarding our objection to the proposed expansion of the Danskammer Power Plant in Newburgh, Orange County. Increasing this part time fracked gas plant operating a few days per year into a 24/7 full time facility will have many more serious negative impacts than positive ones on our region. Public health, ecological, and financial ramifications would make implementation of this plan a potential boondoggle:

– 25x more risk of lung exposure to particulate matter and volatile carcinogenic chemicals

– 40x more methane gas emissions which has 30x more impact than carbon in accelerating climate change (https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/03/140327111724.htm

– An increase of industrial noise emanating from the plant’s jet turbines and exhaust mechanisms

New York State’s Independent System Operator which oversees the power grid deter- mined this expansion is NOT needed even taking into account Indian Point Power Plant’s closing. An irrelevant plant would quickly become obsolete and a financial burden. ...
